Dr. Stacy Hammons

Stacy is a member of the IWU community who has served most recently as Dean of Arts, Humanities and Professional Studies providing leadership of two schools housing 50 programs across eight divisions comprised of art, behavioral sciences, business, communication and theatre, graduate counseling, modern language and literature, music and social studies.

Through her record of skillful and committed academic leadership, Dr. Hammons has won the respect of her peers and colleagues.  She has embraced the identity and mission of IWU and has worked tirelessly to promote the wellbeing of the faculty and schools under her care.  Her personal character and spiritual maturity are a blessing to all who know and work with her.  She brings to the Chief Academic Officer position a realistic understanding of our current challenges and a sense of optimism for the future.

Her academic career began as an Assistant Professor of Social Work at Tabor College.  She achieved the rank of Professor of Sociology at Fresno Pacific University, where she also held administrative positions as Program Director, Division Chair of Interdisciplinary Studies Division for the undergraduate college, and Interim Dean of the School of Humanities, Religion and Social Sciences.

Dr. Hammons holds a Bachelor of Social Work from the University of Missouri, a Master of Social Work from the University of Denver, a Master of Arts in Sociology and a Doctorate of Philosophy from Washington State University.

Stacy is married to Kent Hammons, Special Education Teacher at Marion High School.
